Headcount
Impact: Current employees and inputs used in Generate Customers and Staff simulation ⮕ expenses and # of sales reps (eventually revenue). New Open Opps sourced from the sales team come *only* from I/Cs (individual contributors) in the SDR and AE departments.
An important thing to know is that all ratios round up: if the ratio of I/Cs to manager is set to 5 : 1, the simulation will generate a new hire at the manager level in that department if there’s even 1 I/C and no managers. Some tips to improve the accuracy of generated headcount from the simulation:
- To satisfy the ratios and prevent the simulation from making a hire at a given dept/level, you can add a new employee, enter a $0 salary, and have them as active so that model doesn’t generate a new headcount at that dept/level combo. The best way to do this is to wait until after the simulation run and you see which dept/level combos are hired, then you can 0 out the salary for that generated employee (don’t forget to change the ID to something other than “script-generated”). Keep in mind that the model interprets this as an additional employee for purposes of the hiring ratios (e.g. I/Cs to managers).
- It’s better to enter a dept for an employee based on the nature of their job instead of who they report to.
